Glamours: What they are and why dissipating glamours is urgent. Basically, we call an emotion a "glamour" when it is an "emotional illusion." A common example would be what is known as "self-pity" and others could be "I'm not good enough" or "I never have enough time." What makes them even more difficult to handle is that when you feel "self pity" (even though you feel it is "justified") you are connected to the world pool of self-pity and this makes your feeling immense and almost out of control. It is like stepping into a pool of quick-sand from which it seems impossible to escape.

If you are aware of the potential effectiveness for yourself and for the world to this work of clearing ancient astral energies that entrap humanity, this method can be of great help to you.
What is this fog and mist called glamours? Glamours create energy forms of great potency and are presently the major factor controlling humanity. They come from a very ancient origin. Their power and energy has been increased by humanity over thousands of years as each person brought these energies into themselves and gave more life and power to them.
The word "glamour" comes from an ancient Scottish word that meant "bewitched, hypnotized, under illusion." Hollywood came along and adopted the word to mean what most people think of as "glamorous" - a state that is far from reality or usefulness.
Glamours are the totality of energy forms created through the ages by human desire. Individuals and entire nations and races have created glamours as they have misunderstood and misinterpreted the nature of reality based on their desires. These desires, gathered throughout the ages, have taken on the appearance of a mist or fog that surrounds humanity. This mist or fog keeps people from seeing reality as it is and from interpreting correctly what they experience. These mists keep people identified with the lower self of imprisoning fears, emotions, desires, and the "not self."
The astral plane is the only place where these energy forms of human desire exist. They also help create illusions on the mental plane that imprison humanity, but the glamours themselves are created through emotional desires. This is the field where the battle of the pairs of opposites must be fought - high/low, good/bad, perfect/imperfect, right/wrong, and so on.
Glamours make up the substance of the astral plane. They do not have any inherent light of their own. They are composed of a dim light that does not reflect the Will of the soul, the purpose of life, or the reality behind the material world. When the Masters look toward the earth, they see it shrouded in a foggy shadowy state of varying densities. Many times a Master is trying to reach his trained co-workers, and cannot get through the fog that is around them, created unknowingly by their own fears and desires. The mist and fog that glamours create literally hide the shining diamond of the soul, of divine love and will.
Glamours confront humanity at every step on the path until unity with the soul is achieved. People walk in this fog and look out upon a distorted world. Glamours are the result of the personality separated from the light of the soul and therefore falling into the astral plane, thinking it is real. Glamours are the line of least resistance. It is easier to fall into glamour and to see a distorted vision of reality than to see the reality that glamour veils.
Dissipating glamours frees you and helps free humanity from its astral prison. This work on glamours can create a tremendous clearing and energizing of your life and your work. One of the next steps for humanity, and a step that will free you to advance rapidly on your path of light, is to dissipate the fogs of glamour that surround you. After you work for a period of months to clear your personal glamours, you can learn the process to help clear world glamours and join with those who are lifting this age-long fog that surrounds our planet.
As you lift the fogs and mists that imprison you, you will gradually discover that you are walking in the light of your soul without the heaviness of glamours that form barriers to Divine Love. The feelings that prevented you from seeing the reality of who you are, the desires that sidetracked you and took your time and energy, will gradually disappear. You can realize yourself as the soul, shifting your identity from the little self to the true Self and Master within. Every time you clear some of the fog around yourself, the light of the soul can shine with more radiance into your mind and your life and also lift some of the glamour that has trapped those in your environment.
Group work on glamours is powerful!
This is a work that serves the Plan for humanity when it is done correctly. Helping to lift this fog, first in yourself, and later helping to dissipate glamour on a world level, is an important service for those on the Path. Working in groups to dissipate world glamours is the opportunity that is now available for you. It is possible, through groups united in this higher purpose, to dramatically transform and release the hold these energies have had on humanity for thousands of years. Your children and their children will be born into a purer, clearer light.
First, it is necessary to clear the fog of glamours in your own life. As you continue this work on a regular basis, you will discover many glamours that you were never aware of before. Later, as you move into working to dissipate world glamour, much suffering can be lifted so that humanity will expand through a mind illumined by the soul in a state of freedom and joy rather than through pain and struggle.
Recognizing When You are Being Affected by Glamours
Many souls who are born on the earth plane get lost in the fogs and mists of glamour. They can spend lifetimes trying to find the light. How can you recognize when these fogs and mists are affecting you? How can you know that you are looking out at a distorted view of reality? What do these mists and fogs feel like?
You can know that you are being affected by glamours whenever you feel pride, separatism, or criticism. You can know you are in glamour by feelings of depression or discouragement. Sometimes these energies feel like a pull to do things that you know are not good for you. Glamours can carry seeds of self-doubt and self-criticism. They can reveal themselves as rebellion and self-destruction. They veil themselves as fears of all kinds - fear of change, fear of the unknown, fear of being close, fear of not being loved, fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of failure, and the fear of being alone.
Glamours can appear as strong emotions that make it hard to think or act in higher ways, such as anger, hatred, resentment, irritation, and other feelings that make you feel separate from others and that make it hard to feel good about yourself. These astral energies can act in ways that separate you from others through bringing feelings of superiority, inferiority, too much humility, or righteousness. They often present themselves as emotions that seem altruistic, but yet only serve to isolate and separate, such as selfish service, personal ambition, the need to impose your will on others to accomplish a seemingly important goal, and good intentions that are for selfish gain. Whenever you are in the grip of some strong emotion, you are feeling the effects of these astral energies of glamour.
Glamours always veil the your true light and purpose, even though they may seem to be leading to important activity. The glamour of being busy, of having too much responsibility, of being dutiful, of self-sacrifice, of creativity without true motive, and of not having enough time, do not come from the soul but instead veil your soul’s light.
Glamours can cause you to act in ways that are unloving to yourself and to others. They may appear as love but they are really distortions of love, such as sentimentality, saving others, the love of being love, the need to be popular, and selfish unselfishness. Glamours can appear as over-attachment to people and to the forms in your life, or as misplaced loyalty and devotion. Self-pity, feelings of helplessness, and self-righteousness are all part of the mists and fogs of glamour that surround humanity. Other examples of glamours which are distortions of love, are those of good intentions which are basically selfish, and of too much understanding, which makes it hard to take right action.
These astral energies can bring worry and anxiety, guilt and blame. They can lead you to feeling that you have no control over your life or yourself. They can often be identified when you notice that some feeling is stopping you from doing what you know you need to do, or feelings that make you feel less than or bad about yourself. Glamours can have qualities that affect you by making it hard to move forward, such as feelings of being stuck, drained of energy, or the glamour of inertia.
Once in the grip of these energies, you might act in ways that are harmful to yourself and to others.
How often have you blamed yourself for not acting in high enough ways? Have you felt as if something were working against you, pulling you down and away from the light? These astral energies exist all around everyone on the earth plane, like a thick fog. Every time you draw them into you, act upon them, or feel them deeply, you give them life and create a thicker fog for yourself and others.
Dissipating Glamours
All the spiritual work and soul contact that you have created is working to lessen the glamours and their ability to affect you. Every time you contact your soul, meditate, work with light, let go of attachments, and go upward to a higher light, you release some of the pull these energies can have upon you. Every time you act upon the light, love, and wisdom of your soul, you give these glamours less life and begin to dispel the fog around you. Every time you offer love and do not slip into criticizing others, you are lifting some of the fogs of glamour. Whenever you refuse to indulge in self-pity or negative thoughts you are dispelling glamour.
You do not need to be affected by these energies. You are pure light. Your essence is love. You are a vast intelligence. You have the ability to negate their effect on you and to prevent their appearance in your life. You have the power to take the life out of the glamours you have created, thus freeing yourself and helping all humanity. As you release their hold over you, they no longer hinder you and keep you from the light. Glamour can be dissipated, dispersed, and dispelled by creating an illumined mind through soul contact. You can work with the light of matter, mind, and soul to form a powerful light, direct it onto a glamour, and thus dissipate some of it so that it will never again be as present in your life.
By bringing the light of your mind, illumined with your soul’s light, into the astral plane, you can rapidly and effectively transform glamours, and thus live in the clear light of your soul. People who are spiritually aware have used a variety of techniques for dissipating glamour. The essence of the formula that follows has been used by advanced disciples all over the world for many years. Because so many of you are now awakened, and because the spiritual light coming to earth is so strong, great work can now be done to transform the fogs and mists that surround humanity and thus to clear the distortions and misinterpretations of reality that they cause.
Characteristics of Glamours
The mists and fogs called glamour are very real and can seem to have a life of their own. They can appear in your life and can affect you with their qualities. When you work with your illumined mind to find these glamours on the astral plane, you may sense, see, hear, or feel them in various ways.
There are many qualities of these glamours that may identify them for you. Each time you work with a particular glamour it may appear differently. There are no right or wrong ways to experience the glamour; any way you sense it is correct.
Some glamours are very beautiful. Yet, it is a beauty that can be deceptive, that can fool and trick, such as the glamour of devotion (to false ideals) or the glamour of perfectionism (which prevents any effective action). Some glamours may appear as mud or darkness. Some glamours may make an unpleasant sound. Others may make beautiful, almost seductive sounds. Some may appear to run away or hide from the light. Some may engulf you or have a sticky quality, such as the glamour of sentimentality or of attachment. Some glamours have a mist-like or watery quality such as the glamour of an overly emotional response, of self-doubt, of not recognizing who you are, and of self-pity.
Glamours may appear to take on life forms, become symbols, or appear as people or animals. Some work to veil the light, while others are inert, unmoving and unresponsive to a higher light. You might experience inert glamours as being stuck and resisting new ideas. There are many energy qualities you can sense, feel, hear, see, or in some way become aware of as you work with them. And there are an infinite number of ways to experience these energies from an illumined mind that make them visible and weakened under the power of your searchlight.
How to Realize the Greatest Benefits
Do not expect glamours to disappear overnight. It may take a year or more of focus and work to dissipate some of the glamours. One of the first things you may notice after working on a glamour is that you become more aware of the glamour coming up in your life. At first this awareness may make it seem as if the glamour has increased in your life. Notice, however, that this glamour now has less ability to affect you. And, as you continue to work with it, it will have even less effect on you. It will appear less often until it is gone. Do not try to dissipate every glamour in one session. Work on the one or two glamours that are immediately affecting you. Glamours must be slowly and steadily dispelled without haste. Glamours cannot be immediately dissipated no matter how good your intentions are or how well you use the techniques.
Be compassionate and understanding with yourself. As glamours begin to dissipate, you may begin to recognize how much pain glamours create for everyone involved. It is helpful to experience this without denying it, however it is equally important not to cling to it. If you start criticizing yourself, or if you get depressed and feel guilty, you are simply creating another glamour that increases the fog around you and must also be dissipated.
When the glamour is gone, the old habitual behavior that glamours created (developed over a multitude of lives) gradually disappears altogether. It is the glamours that deceived, tricked, defrauded, and mislead you into one dead end path after another. Celebrate that you can now see a better way to be so that your focus is on the present instead of the past. Giving undue importance to the past (both happy and unhappy times) would still hold in the fog of glamours. You will be able to dissipate glamours much more rapidly when you move forward into the brighter light of the soul, aware of your new choices and your increased ability to express love and understanding.
Working with a Group to Dissipate Glamour
There are two ways to form groups that can work well together to dissipate glamours. One is to bring two or more other close friends who you feel comfortable with. These group members should be harmonized with each other. You will want to select people who are kind and cooperative, and who are not critical or separative in their relations with others in the group. Two or three people who can work together with commitment and harmony will be able to do more to dissipate glamour than a larger gathering of people who are not able to work together in harmony.
Another way is to form a class with members who are not struggling with a major glamour and who have learned to focus mentally with a soul connection. These class members come to do the work and do not get involved in personalities.
State the group purpose, which is to study and understand the significance of glamour and the laws for its dissipation. Record and note what you are doing. Keep detailed records. Write down all that is sensed, seen, or contacted. Set a definite regular time to meet (weekly is usually preferable) and ask that each member agrees to meet and to make sacrifices to be there so the rhythm of work can be established. It is helpful to alternate the leader for each week. Decide on the glamour for the next meeting so that the group members can be thinking about how that glamour has affected their life.
After you become familiar with the steps in the glamour formula, you can stop what you are doing when you spot a glamour that is coming up in your life and go through the formula alone. Always link with the group through the soul after you link with your own soul. This way the power of the searchlight you create will be stronger and more intense.
